English Languge Leaners (ELLs) are students whose primary, home or heritage language is something other than English. These are learners who have not yet passed a language proficiency test. These tests (The W-APT Screener and the ACCESS Test are what we administer in NC) are aimed at measuring the student's ability to function in an English-Speaking academic setting without additional supports. The ACCESS Test measures the following: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing and gives a score for each domain.
