Hello and welcome!

My name is Ms. Susan Jordan, and I am thrilled to be joining the TC Roberson High School community this year as a CTE Business teacher. A Western North Carolina resident since 2005, I have had the privilege to immerse myself in the diverse business landscapes, both traditional and digital.

I'll be guiding our brilliant students through the intricacies of Marketing, Business Essentials, & Sales 1.

Moreover, I am proud to serve as a DECA advisor. For those unfamiliar, DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. It's an exciting opportunity for students to engage in real-world business scenarios and competitions.

But what exactly is CTE in North Carolina? Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. In North Carolina, CTE courses are a bridge connecting students to postsecondary education and career opportunities.

Outside of teaching, I cherish moments spent with friends and family. A cat lover at heart, all three of my fur babies are local rescues. As a matter of fact, my journey in the business realm began in 1998, predominantly in the banking and finance sector.

However, the dynamic world of marketing has always piqued my interest. This allure, combined with a developing passion for Digital Marketing, led me to delve deeper into Graphic Design. In 2022, I earned a Business Administration - Graphic Design Certificate from Blue Ridge Community College. Prior to that, I graduated from Mars Hill University with a Bachelors of Science in Fashion Merchandising.

If there's one thing I want my students and their parents to take away, it's this: Marketing is everywhere!

From the shoes you wear, the food you eat, to the apps you use—there's a world of strategy, creativity, and innovation behind each product. And therein lies the magic of sales and marketing. It's not just about promoting a product; it's about storytelling, understanding human behaviors, and making connections. I am genuinely excited to unravel the exhilarating world of marketing and sales with each of you.

In the words of Phil Knight, the co-founder of Nike,

"Play by the rules, but be ferocious."

Let's embark on this learning journey together, where we will not just learn the rules of business but how to play the game ferociously and ethically. Looking forward to an incredible year ahead!
