Feeding Kariba, with eleCREW in Zimbabwe, as part of a Go Global teaching experience.
I am proud to be born and raised in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. My family and I live here in Weaverville. All three of my sons have had lasting learning experiences in our community schools.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Go Spartans! While taking education courses at the university, I was drawn to not only best educational practices, but also the developmental science of understanding of how and why kids learn in the way they do. I love teaching at Weaverville Primary where I can continue to build deep meaningful learning experiences for young children. Here we are able to focus on each child's social emotional well being while we integrate a high standard of academics but in a developmentally appropriate way. I love the small town and close knit community that allows additional school traditions such as monthly walks to our public library, nature park picnics and our annual fall walk.
Our classroom focuses on learning new skills while encouraging one another. We are a family within the school walls. As part of that family, together we will laugh, try new things, sing, be silly, cry, dance, mess up, giggle, do hard things and grow in many ways. I feel lucky to experience all this and more with your child as I too am always learning.
Recently, our school made the leap to offer a looping classroom experience. I enjoy the opportunity to continue to work with students for not only one, but two consecutive and critical developmental years. Students entered our classroom as kindergarteners and together we thrive all the way through 1st grade until we depart the building ready for a new adventure at Weaverville Elementary.
Our classroom family uses Seesaw to communicate. Through this platform, you will receive classroom information and school wide announcements. Seesaw is the most effective way to reach. I love meeting in person, virtually or even over the phone to discuss your child and his or her goals for school and life success. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any concern, big or small.
