Mrs. Hensley

Hi, I'm Mrs. Hensley

Hello families and students, I am so excited to meet and get to know you all this upcoming school year.   I started my career as a  paraeducator in Special Education in 2016 and instantly fell in love with my students, families, and assisting throughout the Special Education process.  In 2019 I made the decision to return to school where I graduated as a Ray Maben Scholar and  Summa Cum Laude with a dual bachelors in Elementary Education and Special Education from Grand Canyon University (Lopes up!)  I married in 2016 and together my husband and I share 2 very independent boys. I've been coaching volleyball and softball at Erwin High School since 2019. My philosophy for my classroom is to create a safe and engaging atmosphere where my students learn the importance of their individual identities, advocacy, compassion, and fall in love with learning. My goal is that every students who I come into contact with understand that the only limits that can be placed on them are the ones they set for themselves. My responsibilities include providing the tools and strategies that students need to navigate their lives in all aspects as well as solving problems independently, building confidence, and understanding that we all need help and we all have the right to advocate for our needs.
