2nd Grade Teacher

Hi! My name is Katelyn Burchette. I am excited to be joining the North Buncombe family this coming school year! I have been teaching within Buncombe County Schools the past 5 years as a 1st grade teacher. I received my Master’s degree in Reading Education at Appalachian State University, where I also received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

I am married to my husband, Jeremiah Burchette, who works as a PE teacher and coach at North Buncombe Middle. We just had our first daughter, Adelynn, this past May. She is our pride and joy. We also have 2 sweet dogs, Olivia and Cooper.

I have a true passion for teaching. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a student build confidence as they read books that were once difficult for them, or seeing a child’s eyes light up as their hand shoots up to explain their thinking for a challenging math problem.

I look forward to joining the Blackhawk Community!
