DeLana Parker
Thank you for visiting my teacher website! My name is DeLana Parker and I have been a teacher for Buncombe County Schools since 2003. I have taught 3rd grade, 4th grade, and I currently teach 6th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies at Koontz Intermediate.
I graduated from Erwin High School in 1990 , attended UNCA where I obtained my Bachelors in Psychology and my K-6 Licensure to teach, then went on to get my Masters in Education at Western Carolina. I have earned AIG endorsement, a Global Educator Digital Badge, a Blended Learning Facilitator Badge, and a certification to teach 6th-9th English Language Arts.
I love animals, nature, and positive people. In my free time, you'll find me reading something scary, running a 5K, or on a hiking trail!
My favorite thing about teaching is being able meet so many amazing children and getting to be a small part of their journey through this important part of their lives. Sixth grade can be challenging, but I work hard to also make it exciting and fun!
Communication is very important to me, I use weekly newsletters to update families and I will use Google Classroom for my Learning Management System.
