Courtney Haynes

Hello! My name is Courtney Haynes and I work in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) lab at Glen Arden. I have been at Glen Arden since 2016. I feel so lucky that I get to spend each day seeing students bring their ideas to life!

I received my bachelor's degree from The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and my master's degree from Appalachian State. Before I started with Buncombe County Schools, I worked as a recreational therapist in Philadelphia (Go Birds!). My favorite things outside of school are spending time with my family and traveling to new places.

In STEM, students are presented with a problem and then they work together to develop a solution. We follow the Engineering Design Process as we work. We Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Improve, and Present. There is not one "right" way to solve the problem so it is always fun to see each group's unique and creative designs!
