Ms. Brown loves a good book character
dress-up day!
Welcome to the Bell Elementary Library!
¡ Bienvenidos a la biblioteca de Bell!
My name is Amy Brown and I am excited to be your media coordinator! 22-23 was my first year at Bell Elementary. Before this, I was at Claxton Elementary in ACS for seven years. I grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania and went to college near my hometown at Kutztown University. By the time I graduated, I had realized that the world was a big place and I wanted to go explore it, so I accepted a yearlong volunteer position in Tijuana, Mexico where I worked in a community center and a children's home and began learning Spanish. I've worked for Pennsylvania Migrant Education, began a Family Literacy class in a Philadelphia elementary school, have taught GED and ESL classes, and taught 6th grade at a private elementary school in Mexico City where I lived for 6 years. In 2008, my spouse and I moved back to the States and happily settled in Asheville. I have a Masters of Education degree from Alliant International University and a Masters of Library Science degree from University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
I teach because it has always felt like my calling; from the time I was a seven year old teaching the stuffed animals in my bedroom to now, sharing my passion for great books and important research skills with the students of Bell Elementary. I do believe we are living in such an exciting time for children's literature and my goal is to bring great books into our library and connect readers to them. A library is great when it is used and visited and active and I invite all of our CCBES families to make it a point to come by at some point this year! I look forward to meeting you!
