Chorus & Music Teacher, A. C. Reynolds Middle School

My name is Daniel Lowman, and my job this year is to help raise a new generation of musicians and 21st century learners at A. C. Reynolds Middle School! I grew up surrounded by many different kinds of music here in the mountains of Southern Appalachia, and I graduated from T. C. Roberson High School (go Rams!!) before completing my Bachelor's degree in Music Education at Wingate University.

I believe that music belongs in our schools because I have seen the ways that students grow when they dedicate themselves to excellence in a collaborative performing arts setting. Striving for growth and self-actualization through the performing arts can help transform young minds into creators, can incite positive change in the community, and can help cultivate well-rounded and culturally informed global citizens. I am looking forward to the ways in which this school year will allow me to further invest in the lives of students and invest myself in this community.
