Benchmark Advance and Benchmark Universe is BCSD's adopted ELA curriculum. It was first adopted for the 2018-19 school year. Benchmark Universe refers to all of the digital online components. Advance refers to the core curriculum available in digital and print.
The tutorials below are targeted at giving you access to the core curriculum, teachers editions, and demonstrate how to use this content in multiple ways.
Go to https://login.bcsd.com/
Login with BCSD email and password
Click on Benchmark Universe
Clever page may ask you to Sign In with Google
Click on Benchmark Advance
The left hand menu allows you to filter through the large content area in the middle of the page.
Click the grade level you wish to access. ( You can access any grade level if you need to scaffold, or extend)
Everything in the center column will fall under your selected grade level.
The TRS is what some programs call the teacher's editions. Once your grade is selected, look for the small TRS in the bottom left hand corner of the thubmail.
By default all TRS are at the top when you sort by grade level.
Click on a unit to open the TRS for the unit.
Each unit is broken up into 3 weeks.
Each week is divided into 5 days.
And each day is divided into 3 "mini-lessons."
The left hand column has buttons for each week.
If you click on a week, the left hand column then has a button for each of the 15 "mini-lessons" of that week.
Return to the main Benchmark Advance Page
Select your grade.
Select the Unit you are looking for.
Scroll down to "Whole Group Texts and Resources"
Find the thumbnail with E-BOOK and the label for your unit.
Click the gear to access multiple options of interacting with the book. The gear allows you to:
Open - Opens the interactive book in your browser.
More information - Gives you detailed info about the E-Book
Add to assignment - Allows you to assign the book to a group of students within Benchmark Universe
Add to Bookshelf - Allows you to give access to the book to students without making it an assignment.
Reviews - Allows you to see if a review of the content has been created within your classroom. (This would more often be used for leveled readers or other texts.)
Create a Link for Direct Access - This will allow you to link a student straight to a non-individualized copy of the digital e-book for reading. This would allow you to link directly to the content from Google Classroom without having to have students navigate to the book.
