Plan San José del Cabo to Cabo Pulmo

Los Cabos International Airport, in San Jose del Cabo is the closest airport to Cabo Pulmo (approximately 98 km.). Take the Transpeninsular Highway 1 heading north, to Las Cuevas. Just after you leave Las Cuevas, you’ll find an exit d to the right before a bridge.

La Paz to Cabo Pulmo

Cabo Pulmo is located 160 kilometers south of La Paz. Take the Transpeninsular Highway 1 south toward San José del Cabo, past Los Barilles, you will cross a bridge over a wide Arroyo and take the left hand exit toward Cabo Pulmo. Pass through the community of Santa Cruz until you reach a T intersection at La Ribera. You will see an OXO market on your right. Turn right at the T and take the road South to Cabo Pulmo. Before entering there is another detour to Cabo Pulmo. This road, which borders the coast to your left, is approximately 30 km. Of which the first 21 km. are paved and 9 are unpaved. You will see the signs welcoming you to Cabo Pulmo Marine Park, which borders the coast directly to Cabo Pulmo.

Money

• We recommend bringing cash, either pesos or dollars, since few establishments receive credit or debit cards.

• All establishments receive dollars, preferably use those of small denominations (5,10,20,50)

• The closest bank with an ATM to Cabo Pulmo is an hour away in the community of Los Barriles to the north.

Rental cars and fuel

• Rental cars are easily available at airports. We recommend that you make your reservation in advance with the company of your choice. Look for cars that are suitable for dirt roads, however it is not necessary to have a 4x4.

• We recommend that you stock up on enough fuel since there are no gas stations in Cabo Pulmo.

Grocery Shopping

In the Cabo Pulmo community there are two small grocery stores (La Tienda and Restaurant Caballero) where you can buy the essentials. But if you plan to cook, we recommend you shop in the city or in the community of La Ribera or Los Barriles (such as Chapitos in Los Barriles).

• ATM card or cash in US / MX.

• Camera

• Casual cotton clothing (very casual).

• Hat, sunglasses

• Swimsuit

• Sunscreen without oxybenzone (a chemical that kills the reef).

• Flashlight

• Snorkeling / diving equipment (which you can also rent here).

• Do not bring with you: hair dryers, irons, electric curlers, coffee makers. In Cabo Pulmo, we totally depend on solar energy, so consider not using this type of device that can damage the systems. In addition, you will quickly run out of power.

WI-FI

• Cabo Pulmo is an ideal place to disconnect from social networks and rest.

• This service in the community is scarce. However, some lodging establishments have their own service. Ask in the Visitor Center module if this service is available at the time of your visit.

• If you are here to work, we have WIFI available at the Learning Center e where you can make your video conferences or work quietly (a voluntary donation is requested). Fill out this form to request it.
