Multicellularity

Benthic protists from Torridonian deposits include cell clusters which appear to show a level of adhesion. However there are other forms which appear to represent reproductive stages within protistan life cycles. These multicellular balls of cells also include two distinct cell morphologies. The lobate thalli from the section at Badachro can be up to a millimeter in size, so they are likely to be multicellular, although this has yet to be demonstrated. Some linear forms from the Nonesuch Shale also qualify as multicellular, although these forms remain problematic.
