Introducing the BB&N Family Technology Education and Engagement Series for 2026 - 2027.
In today’s digital environment, screen time is rarely just a matter of counting hours and minutes—it encompasses how our children learn, create, connect, and unwind. What does current research actually tell us about the complex relationship between digital media and growing minds? How can we move from fear to balance, shifting our focus from enforcing rigid limits to building lifelong "digital agency" in our children? And how can home and school work together to establish clear, consistent expectations across environments?
A collaboration between the BB&N Technology Department and Health and Wellness, this 1-hour zoom is led by Megan Bounit, Technology Officer; Yumi Nakanishi, Director of Academic Technology; and Dawn McGrath, Health and Wellness Teacher & Curriculum Coordinator. Together, we will examine recent research on youth media use, explore how digital experiences interact with adolescent brain development, and clarify technology policies and practices at BB&N. Families will leave with practical strategies for creating effective family media agreements, fostering open dialogue, and helping children cultivate the judgment and habits needed to navigate a screen-filled world with balance and confidence.
