The Options Process
As your child is currently in Year 8, they have reached the time when they will be able to choose what qualifications they would like to study at Key Stage 4.
At Baysgarth, we are committed to offering a broad and balanced curriculum, and we are proud to offer a wide range of subjects to our students as they prepare to choose their GCSEs.
We are confident that with the range and number of options available we can cater for the needs of all of our students to go on to be happy and successful.
Options Timeline
Monday 13th January
Options Assembly to introduce and explain the process to students. Introductory letter to parents.
Monday 13th or Thursday 16th January
Parental Options Evening.
Wednesday 23rd January TBC
Options Fair in school for Year 8. Students will have the opportunity to visit departments and gather information on new subjects before completing their choices for taster sessions.
Sunday 26th January
Taster session choices close.
Tuesday 4th February
Options Taster sessions.
Options form goes live.
Sunday 23rd February
Deadline for all Option choice forms to be submitted online.
March
Options blocks will be constructed in the school timetable.
Confirmation of your child's final Option choices sent home. At this point, students who are unhappy with their Options will have an opportunity to re-select from the Option blocks which have been created.
All students' Options will be finalised and confirmed by letter.
