Welcome to fifth grade! I am so glad to set out on this learning adventure with you. We'll be working hard, exploring our world, and making memories together for the next ten months. I hope you'll bring a positive attitude, curiosity, and some team spirit to share with our class. Every student adds something special to our classroom community -- we need you!

Scholastic Book Club
I love to read, and I hope my students will, too! One of the best ways we can improve our fluency, vocabulary and comprehension is by picking up a new or well-loved book and read a little bit every day! I will send home Scholastic Book flyers each month which offer great books at a reduced price. By ordering books through Scholastic, you also help us to earn free classroom books! You can order books through these flyers or at their website. Just be sure to note our Classroom Code so we can grow our class library!

Classroom Technology
I use technology to keep families and students up-to-date on what's going on in our classroom. All students have Google and Skyward accounts. I'll be using Google Classroom to send assignments to students, so your student will be online a lot this year. Students are taught cyber-safety through a district-wide curriculum and I enforce district policies to keep kids safe online. Students also sign a Technology Use Agreement before going online.
I love taking pictures and students love seeing themselves on a website, so whenever we do cool stuff in class I'll try to document it by taking pictures. If a picture is posted on this website, no names will be assigned to it.
