Mrs. Gillihan's Class
Welcome 5th Grade Wildcats!
Welcome back to school and to the fifth grade! It certainly will be nice to see some of our old friends and be ready to meet some of our new students who have come to Maple Grove School.
I am very pleased to be working with Ms. Scott this year, as we will be sharing all of the fifth grade students. I will be teaching ELA (English Language Arts) and U.S History. Ms. Scott will be teaching Math and Science.
Communication and understanding are a vital part of a successful relationship, which we are working together to build. I want you to feel connected to your child’s day at school. Please feel free to come in and be a part of our classroom. Our cooperation can make a difference as we strive to grow these children academically and personally every day.
Thank you so much for your support. Working together will help all of us to have a great year.

My name is Sara Gillihan. I was born in Portland, but spent the majority of my younger years in Keizer, Oregon. I attended Cascade College and Warner Pacific College, both located in Portland. I have been teaching since 2002, and have been teaching at Maple Grove since 2006. This is my second year teaching fifth grade.
My husband, Kevin and I celebrated our fourteenth anniversary this summer. We have a sweet, silly, curious little boy named Ian, who will be turning six years old in November. I also have a happy, baby boy named David, who turned one in April. We have three cats, Sammy, Max and Bonnie that entertain our household. My hobbies include reading, music, art and crafts, and of course having fun with my family.
