Grading Policies

Grading in Health/Fitness is primarily done by, but not limited to, formal assessment (adult observation). Generally speaking, grading is based on these main categories:

  • Appropriate Clothes : wearing movement friendly clothes. This usually consists of gym floor friendly shoes, sweat pants or shorts, and a t-shirt. Non-suits affect the grade after three "freebies" a grading period (days a student can't dress due to situations at home, or forgetfulness). Parent notes are always welcome if needs arise and their child needs to be excused for not having their clothes (washing machine broke, etc)

  • Participation - it is expected that whatever is being done in H/F, students participate in that activity.

  • Effort - when a student is participating in an activity, it is expected that the student will put forth an effort and not just "go through the motions".

  • Cooperation - it is expected that the student will cooperate with classroom rules, game/activity rules, etc.

  • Quizes/tests/assessments - there are times that written course work will be graded.
