1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module develops your skills and techniques as a creative musician by exploring ways in which your music-making may be creatively and innovatively applied.
This module aims to:
Provide an environment to explore creative music making
Engender the development of skills introduced at level 4
2. Outline syllabus
You undertake two creative projects, selected from a range of available choices. Both projects replicate requirements of specific areas of the music industry. Such projects might include orchestration and/or stylistic composition. For example, adapting existing music for a new instrumentation or compositional techniques associated with historical periods or genres. You complete a creative assignment for each project.
You work on two projects that each draw on different demands made by the music industry. Each project is designed to provide situations for which your work may be located
3. Teaching and learning activities
Each project begins with a series of seminars designed to support your technical, aesthetic and contextual understanding of the work you are making. The seminars present relevant existing work and consider the practical challenges relevant to the topic and explore the skills needed to address them. Individual and/or group tutorials support your work where you work on your piece with tutors and peer support.
