The module builds on your knowledge of teams from the level 4 module, ‘Collaborative working in health and social care provision’. Critical thinking skills are developed through deeper understanding of the need to be responsive to change in collaboration with others. You will explore the subject of recruitment e.g. selection processes and job adverts, job descriptions and person specifications; leading on to looking at application career packs which you will evaluate.
During the module you will compare workforce strategies from organisations which you will source online to develop your knowledge and understanding of human resource planning needs and to build your understanding of leading and managing to support individual and team development in organisations. For example you will review skills audits, work force strategies and training plans and how to align these with organisational objectives. You will study employment law as part of this syllabus and understand the relevance of employment related policies and procedures in the workplace.
Content also covered is workforce data and trends in health and social care and you will consider social cultural and environmental perspectives that develop your ability to analyse and apply such data. The role of leadership in equalities and diversity will be a focus of the module as you learn about how data are used to respond to workforce development and community/user group needs. This will help you apply context to the current information about the health and social care environment, skills gaps and emerging roles and initiatives nationally, regionally and locally to increase your capacity as future leaders to address issues in future provision needs.
During the module you will also consider the different professional roles and the key training and skills needed for each role, including an exploration of your own career development and pathways. This work will support your emerging interests and aspirations for your future career.
