1. Brief description and aims of module:
In this module, you will learn and explore methods of communicating your work to an audience.
Professional Designers require skills in communicating ideas and outcomes at various stages through concept, design, production and selling to external audiences, and in this module, you will be supported in learning communication techniques.
The module is delivered through project based learning, so that you are able to explore how to communicate and externalise your own ideas, design processes and outcomes.
You are also encouraged to draw on the learning you have gained during the course, demonstrating your making, experimenting, researching and designing.
2.Outline syllabus:
The module is structured around a creative brief, and culminates in presenting your work to an audience. Taught sessions will introduce you to key processes, such as photography and 2D composition and layout, and methods used by practicing designers to present their work to their audiences or clients. You will be supported in exploring narrative and storytelling through appropriate media (e.g. image, moving image, text, material, and verbal presentation) to communicate ideas.
In addition to the taught sessions, you are able to work independently both in the studio and workshops, providing you with the opportunity to develop ideas, material experiments and prototypes, alongside your course peers, and in the workshops, students from other art and design disciplines.
