1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module continues the introduction to the basics of interior design; space, light and surface and basic technical drawing skills. It will focus broadly on spatial design for the arts and/or education sectors.
You will have the opportunity to engage with issues of materials, their environmental impact and particularly their tactile qualities, to develop your knowledge of how we interact with surfaces and finishes in the interior. This module will also introduce you to larger scale and detail drawing.
2.Outline syllabus:
This project gives you the opportunity to build on your learning of basic drawing skills through a series of studio exercises and tasks structured around a design brief. You will be encouraged to take a hands-on, iterative, exploratory approach to develop your ideas and inform your design proposals.
Exercises will look specifically at how to represent different materials in drawings at a variety of different scales including detail drawings
In addition to the practical work you will also continue with other elements e.g. research, reflective practice and critical evaluation.

3.Teaching and learning activities:
Alongside mostly self-directed studio work these will usually include:
Staff presentations
Presentation, display and documentation of your individual work
Seminars on technical topics
Group and individual tutorials and critical reviews
Active participation in taught sessions and directed learning
