1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module aims to build on the basics of measured drawings (plans section and elevation) to encourage you to develop 3D drawings skills, axonometric and perspective, and hands-on and digital model making skills.
You will be given the opportunity to learn and implement the basics of sketch models to test design ideas. You will also be supported in producing presentation models used to show proposals to ‘clients’ and other stakeholders.
2.Outline syllabus:
There are two parts to this module:
Structures and construction for interiors – lecture / seminar based.
This will enable you to develop a basic understanding of how to read a building in order to know what can or cannot be altered. This may also include visits to building sites or other structures.
2. Model making - studio activity
The syllabus also includes:
Visual research skills
Time management
Personal planning
Documentation
Reflection on learning
Communication and presentation skills
3.Teaching and learning activities:
Alongside mostly self-directed studio work these will usually include:
Seminars
Staff presentation and demonstration
Hands on preparations, sketching and approximations
Model making workshops
