1. Brief description and aims of module:
The module further develops your knowledge and practice of ‘type and image’ in graphic communications by examining how ‘time’ informs design. You will explore; narrative and sequence in static media (print) and dynamic media (screen, video, animation, and sound).
2.Outline syllabus:
You will continue to develop image-making and typographic skills, exploring the appropriate materials and processes, developing an understanding of composition. You will acquire skills to translate information across media into a systematic document, explore the language of moving images and their narrative possibilities, investigate approaches to creating stop-frame animation (2D and 3D). Studio workshops and technical demonstrations will introduce you to three key ways of making: digital photography and printmaking (etching, linocut and letterpress) and software introductions to Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
3.Teaching and learning activities:
A varied and intensive programme of time based studio projects and exercises: Drawing for narrative and sequence, Time based conceptual problem skills for type and image, design practice research skills, sequential composition with type and image craft and technical skills for time based outcomes.
