1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module introduces you to the graphic communication industry by exploring the diversity of professional practice and the contexts in which it operates. This includes client and supplier industries, governmental and regulatory bodies, education and the public sphere. It considers the role of enterprise in employability and introduces you to ethical and social issues that have implications for contemporary design practice.
2.Outline syllabus:
A varied and intensive programme of:
review and analysis of contemporary industry and professional bodies
consideration of ethical, social and environmental issues relating to the industry
presentations by communication design practitioners, research through case studies
key skills in communication and IT will be delivered through presentations (oral and written reporting) and assignments
3.Teaching and learning activities:
You will learn through tutor-led projects and exercises, tutorials, critiques, seminars, specialist workshops, professional lectures, peer discussion, field trips.
