1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module introduces the principles of designing with ‘type’ and ‘image’ in the context of graphic communication practice. In dedicated design studios you will develop practiced based type and image research. You will be encouraged to think critically about the subject and to engage in dialogue with your peers. Technical workshops and demonstrations introduce you to key ways of making and reproducing type and images, engaging with analogue technology and an emphasis on hand-made outcomes.
2.Outline syllabus:
A varied and intensive programme of studio projects and exercises to introduce ‘type and ‘image’ design practice: drawing, conceptual problem solving and message making with type and image, design practice research skills, composition with type and image, the appropriate craft and technical skills
3.Teaching and learning activities:
Studio Practice: projects and exercises with feedback tutorials, critiques, seminars, specialist workshops, lectures, peer reviews and your own investigations.
