1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module will introduce you to designing through the creative use of cut and encourages exploration of innovative 2D and 3D cutting techniques combining flat pattern cutting and modelling on the stand developed from personal research into a resolved physical outcome.
2.Outline syllabus:
Workshops, taught sessions and a creative brief will help further your knowledge of design and technical processes, introduce you to modelling on the stand, and encourage you to experiment with innovative use of combining flat pattern cutting and modelling. You will also be encouraged to build on your personal research skills and take a hands-on and exploratory approach to design as well as further appreciate different weights and types of fabric. You will have opportunities to engage critically with the social and ethical aspects to the production of clothes, such as lifecycle and sustainability.
3.Teaching and learning activities:
Will usually include:
Technical demonstrations and taught sessions
Group and individual tutorials and critical reviews
Fittings
Personal presentation, documentation of work
Independent working on directed project work
Active participation in taught sessions and directed learning.
