1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module focuses on research, secondary and primary sources, and drawing as the basis for generating creative ideas for fashion. It also supports you in taking an idea from concept to a resolved two-dimensional outcome. Sampling will form part of your design development and primary response to secondary sources.
2.Outline syllabus:
You will be introduced to using secondary and primary research as the basis for creative design development through various methods and resources including the library, fashion museum, and galleries/exhibitions, as well as reflective practice and critical evaluation. You will also be introduced to appropriate methods of recording, collating and generating a range of ideas from a single source using extensive drawing as a means of investigating and exploring ideas. You will also apply your research to the development of three-dimensional silhouettes by working directly on a stand and communicate your process within a sketchbook.

Introductions to secondary and primary research methods
Introduction to visual research and idea generation
Introduction to appropriate methods of recording, collating and generating
Group and individual tutorials and critical reviews
Personal presentation and documentation of work
Study trip /or exhibition visit
Independent working on directed project work
Active participation in taught sessions and directed learning
