1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module teaches you about the art of recording commercial songs in the recording studio.
This module aims to:
Introduce you to the recording studio and its part in producing commercial music to an industry standard.
Give students an in depth grounding in relevant music software .
Provide you with the knowledge of how to manage a recording session from pre-production to the final mixing stage.
2.Outline syllabus
The teaching will be divided between the computer rooms and the studios.
The students will concurrently learn about the software and the recording studios working towards the submission of a simple (but produced to a professional level) 4-minute song, recorded in the studio and edited and mixed using Protools.
3.Teaching and learning activities
Teaching will be divided between group workshops in the studios and lectures in a Mac suite. Students will be set tasks in the studio each week and will use the resulting audio will be used in the classroom sessions.
