1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module sees you working in a collaborative context in order to generate original musical ideas. They will then work with their tutors and peers tutors to develop these ideas into effective live musical arrangements, culminating in a body of original material to be performed at Live showcase event. This module is a pre-requisite for Performance (Projects).
This module aims to:
Enable you to develop musical ideas into effective live arrangements.
Develop musical and communication skills to enable students to work effectively within a musical ensemble.
Coach the students to be performers that can effectively present original material in a live concert setting.
2.Outline syllabus
At the start of this module, students will form bands/collaborative projects in order to create and develop a body of original musical material. The projects will receive tuition in order to develop musical ideas into fully arranged songs. Skills covered will include writing effective parts, instrumental and vocal ability applicable to the material and the construction and pacing of an effective set. The completed arrangements will be presented at a live showcase.
3.Teaching and learning activities
Weekly rehearsal room-based performance sessions plus lectures and group playback sessions.
The creation of material should be done during the week between these sessions
