1. Brief description and aims of module:
You will learn about theoretical, historical, cultural and political perspectives relevant to the practices emerging from Creative Music Technology.
This module aims to:
Enable you to formulate and express abstract ideas related to contemporary sound practice.
Equip you with academic research and writing skills.
2.Outline syllabus
The following topics will be investigated in the module:
Historical, theoretical, cultural, political and artistic perspectives of practice from music, sound art, sound design, and conceptual and experimental art;
Forms of written and audio-visual discourse that enables the expression of ideas and abstract concepts
Research, analysis and conventions in academic writing
3.Teaching and learning activities
The module is delivered through weekly lectures and small-group seminars. Further online study materials are made available through Minerva that should be used to support self-directed study.
