1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module presents the fundamental principles and skills of contemporary sound and music production.
The module aims to:
Develop your theoretical and practical understanding of audio production
Develop your technical skills in using industry standard software tools for audio editing, mixing and mastering
Challenge you to consider audio processing as an additional tool for composition
2.Outline syllabus
You will be introduced to key concepts and principles related to audio production through task-focussed practical and creative exploration.
Module content areas include:
Audio editing,
Dynamic, Spectral & Spatial Processing
Mixing, Automation & Mastering
File/Data Management & Production Workflow
Sequencing & Virtual instruments.
3.Teaching and learning activities
You will learn through a combination of lectures, workshops and seminars. Tutorial guidance and peer review will be provided during the workshop sessions. You will receive class-based tasks as well as online VLE tasks & materials, devised to support your use of directed study time for this module.
