1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module recognises that you have arrived on the course with a wealth of personal creative enthusiasm and activity. This creative activity is seen to form a vital basis for the development of an individual 'voice ' or identity in your creative work. This is likely to be directly related to music production and composition, but may also include other creative avenues such as visuals and moving image with music accompaniment, instrumental and/or DJ performance skills, or promotional and online presence activities. You will explore and create new work either individually or in collaboration with fellow students.
This module aims to:
Support and encourage creative activity
Develop interpretation and reflective skills
Create focus and personal development in creative work
2.Outline syllabus
The module activities include:
Musical and music production analysis and discussion skills
Creative and collaborative working
Project design and development techniques
Confidence and creative community building skills
Importantly, this module introduces the areas of peer and self-assessment, which become a key feature and learning tool throughout your degree.
3.Teaching and learning activities
The module activities include lead lectures, seminar group listening and discussion, small group tasks and collaborative working.
An important component of this module is the development of a sense of community, creative support and collaboration across the year group. This also includes contribution to discussion and informal presentations to your peers.
