1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module will focus on key strategies for artists and designers to promote their activities and advance themselves in the creative industries.
2.Outline syllabus:
This module offers a range of activities designed to promote your creative practice. You will be challenged to critically reflect on your work and find the most appropriate ways to showcase these achievements, including a consideration of the audience and delivery. You will learn to professionally document your work, write artistic statements, create publicity material and strategically use social media. In addition to this you’ll become aware of the role, opportunities and support provided by arts and cultural organisations and other professional bodies. The programme of staff lectures will continue to expand your knowledge and understanding of the importance of contextualising practice through research.
3.Teaching and learning activities
During the module, you will engage in the following:
Group critiques/seminars with peers and staff.
Individual tutorials to discuss work and objectives.
Lectures from visiting guests and staff.
Online training tutorials for software applications.
Presentations addressing module themes, tasks and requirements.
Study trips relevant to professional development.
Workshops for photography, writing and social media.
A range of tasks, learning materials and research guides will be published on Minerva to support the module.
