1. Brief description and aims of module:
This builds on the first part of the introductory programme (CAP4010-20).
The module is designed to enable and encourage you to research and experiment with methods and materials encountered in semester one, to develop an independent and contextually aware multidisciplinary studio practice.
The module aims to facilitate your ability to resolve set and encountered problems specifically relating to your areas of practice.
The module will begin to develop your understanding of the importance of presentation and ethical awareness when publicly exhibiting your work.
2.Outline syllabus:
In this module you will continue studying the subject areas you took in semester one. At the beginning of the module you will develop an independent learning contract that is negotiated with your subject tutors. Through this you will develop your ideas through a self-determined body of work that experiments with methods, materials and concepts relating to contemporary art & design practice.
Studio based seminars and peer reviews will develop your ability to evaluate your practice and communicate your ideas.
The school of art programme of talks by visiting lecturers and careers staff covering a range of subjects associated with the role of the contemporary professional practitioner will help you prepare to display your work professionally.
Your online context journal developed in semester 1 will become an important record of your progress and the development of your practice and the link should be clearly identified in future submissions of supporting work.
