1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module continues your introduction to architectural design by exploring place and narrative. You will focus on the design of shared spaces, how they are occupied and how they are experienced. This will build on your previous Design Studio projects, and you will be encouraged to experiment with design processes and resolve the technical requirements of developing a larger, multi-storey building.
You will have the opportunity to engage with materiality, the qualities of form and place, and the environmental impact of your design decisions. This module will introduce you to work at a larger scale and across multiple storeys, and integrate your technical studies through detail drawing and technical substantiation.
