1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module aims to develop your technical skills through considering how structural systems, building services, environmental performance and regulatory frameworks contribute to your design development. It will
introduce you to material properties and basic structural systems, internal climate and comfort, and the fundamental principles of net zero carbon design.
Taught and research elements of the module will allow you to develop a range of technical, visual and material design references.

Topics covered include:
● Basic structural systems
● Introduction to climate management
● The principles of zero carbon design
● Technical drawing skills
● Applied research
● Ideation and problem solving
● Reflection on learning
3.Teaching and learning activities:
This is a seminar-based module which will usually include:
● Staff and student presentations
● Group and individual tutorials, and critical reviews
● Documentation and display of work completed
● Independent working
