1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module focuses on the basics of measured survey drawings and the principles of drawing convention. It will support you in the process of learning to ‘read’ a building.
You will be introduced to both hand and computer-based drawing methods used in architectural practice.
The module aims for you to grow your knowledge of measured surveys and analysis of existing buildings and spaces as this will form the basis for future design projects.

Topics covered include:
● Introduction to surveying
● Technical drawing conventions
● Communication and presentation skills
● Reflection on learning
3.Teaching and learning activities:
Alongside mostly self-directed studio work, these will usually include:
● Seminars
● Staff and guest lecturer presentations and demonstrations
● Hands-on measuring, recording and documentation in groups
● Preparation, sketching and approximations
● ‘Drawing up’ workshops
