1. Brief description and aims of module:
This 4-week module develops the acting process you explored in ACT4021 by considering the application of that process to text. Simultaneously, you will develop your practical and cognitive skills further to further the creativity of the choices you make. This module aims to:
Develop your personal approach to acting by applying your acting process to text.
Encourage you to apply your emerging physical and vocal techniques to your acting
Consider acting through a range of differing perspectives
2.Outline syllabus
This module is about applying your emerging acting process to more complex material, in this instance text, and therefore it considers terms such as actioning and given circumstances and how to apply them practically. Your voice and movement work will examine the idea of how physical techniques enable your acting practice, and therefore promote the idea that actors apply technique to support and enable their performances. Your focus on play and improvisation will extend to duo and trio work as well as neutral mask and animal work, while contextual work explores non-naturalistic genres.Â
3.Teaching and learning activities
In all your level 4 modules, you will be taught across a series of discipline classes that underpin your development as an actor. These classes include (but are not exclusive to) Acting, Context, Improvisation, Movement, Singing, Voice, etc.
For this module you will engage with practical classes that will encourage you to take responsibility for your own physical skills development, and also draw on your learning to date to inform your performance of an acting scene.
