1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module develops your skills and experience as a creative musician through the learning and examining of practical tools, such as technologies and instruments, used in the creation and realisation of music.
The module aims to:
Facilitate your exploration of the intersections of technologies and analogue sound worlds.
Enable you to expand your creative and technical skill set and understanding.
Provide you with a series of study tools to underpin further study.
2. Outline syllabus:
Sessions in creative practice and music technology introduce core compositional resources and associated techniques. Together, these expand your imaginative scope as a creative musician. You explore the creative potentials of both analogue and digital sound, recording techniques (video and audio), and presenting your work. You undertake two projects selected from a range of available choices such as working with instruments, exploring the sonic capabilities of everyday objects, and utilising recorded sound and software instruments.
3. Teaching and learning activities:
Classes combine lectures designed to develop your contextual and theoretical knowledge, and practical workshops that help you apply these new skills.
