1. Brief description and aims of module:
Political Media Making aims to provide you with the opportunity to study the key debates in contemporary media studies, from media audiences to craftivism in the creative media industries. The module will explore social concerns, connected communities and digital technologies before considering the role of art and storytelling in contemporary media communications. The module will harness your independent research skills, finesse your creative production skills and improve your presenting skills.

3.Teaching and learning activities
The module will cover a number of key debates relating to creativity in the creative media industries, with each debate being introduced in a formal lecture, with seminar time dedicated to creative workshops that allow small groups to evaluate existing creative projects. These workshops will allow space for you to research, design and create an original media text and provide a supporting and supportive space for you to introduce and seek peer review feedback on your work. The module will draw on expertise from the careers centre, and the final weeks of the module will offer lectures, tutorials and workshops on research skills, project planning and presentation skills.
The Minerva site for the module will act as a research centre and will contain both weekly support materials (lecture slides, essential and further reading) and broader research materials including reviews, demographic data, academic journal articles and popular media case studies.
