Thursday Classes

This basket features a unique pattern created by the precise placement of weavers and overlays. It has a round wood base, students will learn triple twine, chase weave, design-enhancing overlays, and a distinctive rim application. The finished basket is adorned with charming wooden feet. You will be contacted by the teacher to choose a color: Pearl Grey, Golden Yellow, Spring Green, or Royal Purple.

Special tools needed for class: A small awl is helpful for inserting overlays, and a tapestry needle for cord lashing at the rim.

Aspens In the Fall

Using Aspen Space Dyed Reed (Tan, Rust Brown, Peach) weave a simple twill base to start this fun fall basket. Learn a continuous twill up the sides of the basket while working on shaping and weaving tension. Finish the weaving with a double knotted rim. A pair of leather leaves or a clay leaf is added as an embellishment.

Do you want to maximize what you can weave with standard weaving supplies? Learn how to make ribbed baskets without having to buy wooden hoops. In this class you will learn how to make them using flat oval rim materials. Class will focus on shaping skills. Patterns for several handle weaves are included. Thankful

Thankful starts by weaving a filled base on a 6” x 20” D handle. Techniques include start/stop weaving, twining, continuous weaving, and the use of overlays. There will be an emphasis on shaping this basket. The accent colors are smoked, gold, and celery green. Shaker tape and sea grass are woven in this basket as accents – lots of texture! Please note the floral may vary due to availability.

Beach Treasure Jar

This basket features a custom-made base and lid with a lasered beach scene. The lid handle is a 3D printed sea urchin. The base is pre-glued to a 5 1/2" glass bubble bowl. The sides are woven with a continuous weave. It is finished with a folded rim.

Maple Swirls

Start with a spoked maple strip base and weave the sides with bleached cane in a continuous weave. Two rows of twining with waxed cord secure the bowl weaving. The Swirl is an intriguing overlap technique that takes the maple spokes from straight up to overlapped, wrapped, and tucked. String wood beads on a cord hanger which is secured to the basket in a surprising way. Material for 2 Swirls in kit.

Angel Sweeper

The student will design a totally functional Kitchen Broom using the Angel Wing style. Many choices of broom straw and string will be available. It may be embellished with ribbon when completed.

Rush Footstool

The Rush design has been around for many decades and goes with any decor. This is a basic beginner pattern to learn the steps on how to rush, then the technique can be used on any chair. The pine stool comes stained, sealed and ready to weave on. NOT to be used as a stepping stool.

Yuletide Welcome

Deep Pockets
