Woven on a round wood base, this basket is a bit of a shaping challenge. The basket will be finished with a hoop for the inside rim. The lid is woven on a wood base that has been wood burned and painted by the instructor. It also has a hoop for its inside rim as well as your choice of knobs. The feathers are added after the basket is woven. Lots of colors and lids to choose from.

Built on a 5"X14" D-handle, the base of this basket measures 6" wide and grows to app. 11" through diligent attention to shaping using techniques presented. Although this basket begins with start/stop weaving and twining, the majority of the basket is woven in opposing chase weave and turn-backs. A double simple braid provides a delicate-looking rim, and a wrapped handle completes the look.

Start on a round oak base with a narrow slot. No twining in spokes. Stop/start weaving gets you gently up the sides. Add overlays for color and texture. Learn to create the center section of Pebbles by weaving and wrapping mellowed seagrass around the spokes. Continue to the top and glue spokes to the rim row. Now it's time to learn the interesting drop-down-and-wrap double rim lashing. Great techniques.
