Indirect Object Pronouns

The indirect object (IO) of a sentence is for whom or what the verb is being done.

ex. Yo compro el regalo para la profesora.  (I by the gift for the teacher.)

IO = la profesora because the teacher is for whom the gift is being bought.

An indirect object pronoun (IOP) takes the place of the indirect object.

ex. Yo la compro el regalo .  (I bought her the gift.)
