Inform parents how to check if work has been completed
Teachers should post and share daily schedule at the beginning of each class meeting including:
Major learning events & specific times
Pictures symbols for younger students an, EL students, and students with learning needs
Times for check-ins

Teachers should teach students signals they may use including:
Gaining attention during video sessions (i.e. doorbell sound, clap, paper signs held up)
Embedding video timers to help students with pacing for synchronous activities for independent work or collaborative work
Teachers should incorporate scheduled movement breaks, mask breaks, and shifts in instructional strategies to break up the sessions
Teachers should build in regular opportunities for students to make connections with each other through class "morning meetings," ice breakers, or collaborative work, and breakout rooms.

Teachers should create procedures for learning material organization including:
Naming conventions for digital folders
Naming conventions for assignment topics within a LMS (Day 1, September 4, 8.4.20, Assignment 1, etc.)
Naming conventions for other digital work for students (StudentName.Block1.TermPaper1 vs. Term Paper)
Daily attendance plan
Daily agenda with links to assignments on Canvas
3 Days of asynchronous lessons in the event of a power outage
Opportunities to check in with in-person and distance learners
Videos for students who are absent
Live streaming for distance learners
Communication plan- inform parents and students of preferred method of contact, when to expect responses for emails, times for office hours appointments, location of daily and weekly assignments, etc.
Teachers may want to consider a statement that informs parents of when to expect a response to messages. For example, any messages received after 4 p.m. may not be answered until the following day.
