Meet Mr. Paul

Welcome to my classroom!

Office Hours

M-F: 7:45-8:15AM

Afternoons by appointment

In 2018-2019, we will use curriculum from Illustrative Mathematics Open Up Resources. IM Open Up is the highest rated mathematics curriculum on and is the most closely aligned to the Kentucky Core Academic Standards.

What does that mean for you as a student? You will be given access to the skills and topics that will most likely appear on MAP and K-PREP testing for 7th grade math, giving you the best chance for success for this year.

You will probably notice that my room is full of desktop computers. We will use them EVERY day. Much of our math work will be completed using computers or your personal mobile devices (if you have them, if not, don't worry. You'll be just fine.)

My classroom will be primarily student-driven, meaning that the responsibility of learning will be carried by you. You will be asked to expand your mind, rise to complete new challenges, and have more fun than you thought possible in a math class.

We work every day, all day, from bell to bell. We have fun, we will celebrate our wins, and we will move past our failures. We are a team and we will do things you didn't believe possible as we lock arms and fight the forces of evil together.

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Grades Mathematics and a Master of Arts in Education in Teacher Leadership and Instructional Technology from Western Kentucky University.

I have had the honor of conducting numerous professional development sessions for his district during his first year of teaching. I assisted in the rollout of six Chromebook carts at BMS and am the district Instructional Technology Coordinator.

I present regularly at educational technology conferences in and around Kentucky, including:

I am a Google Certified Educator, a member of the Kentucky Society for Technology in Education, the Kentucky Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Association for Middle Level Education, the Western Kentucky Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and am a co-founder of Edcamp Kentucky.

I teach, I geek, I dad, I blog, I math. Not always in that order.
