SERIES DESCRIPTION
Tattooing exists in nearly every culture, yet its meanings vary radically across geography, history, and belief systems.
This documentary series explores tattooing as a cultural language through an unusual and compelling guide: a fully tattooed dermatologist who approaches the art form with both medical insight and deep personal connection.
Each episode is set in a single country and combines immersive travel with intimate encounters among tattoo artists, practitioners, and local communities.
Alongside the presenter, three tattooed participants—selected through an international submission process—join the journey. Embedded within the culture, they each receive a tattoo in the host country, transforming the episode into a lived exchange rather than an observational one.
The completed pilot episode in Thailand examines sacred tattoo traditions and their survival in modern society, while a second finished episode in Brazil explores tattooing as self-expression shaped by social and cultural diversity.
Through the shared experiences of the presenter and participants, the series reveals how tattooing functions as ritual, resistance, identity, and belonging.
By uniting medical understanding, cultural inquiry, and personal transformation, the series challenges stereotypes around tattooing and opens broader conversations about the body as a site of meaning, control, and change.
With two completed episodes filmed & the first episode edited, and a scalable international format. This project is positioned for global collaboration and premium streaming distribution.

• Thailand has deep cultural tradition + ritual tattooing • It immediately signals heritage, spirituality, and depth
• Brazil is great energy, but Thailand already sells the concept,
Questions & Answers
“Give me the project in 30 seconds.”
It’s a premium international doc series exploring tattooing around the world, hosted by a fully tattooed dermatologist. Each episode focuses on a different country, using tattooing as a lens for identity, belief, and culture. We have two finished episodes — Thailand and Brazil — and the format is built for multi-season global SVOD.
“Why are you the right team to make this?”
We have rare access, cultural trust, and a host who isn’t a presenter parachuting in. The show works because the host belongs to both worlds — medicine and tattoo culture — which unlocks conversations most crews don’t get.
“Who do you think this is for?”
Global adult audiences who engage with premium factual series — culturally curious viewers, not tattoo insiders.
“What kind of deal are you looking for?”
We’re looking for the right global partner for a first season and beyond. We’re open on structure, but we want this positioned as a returning premium series, not a one-off license.
“Why this series — and why now?”
Tattooing has moved from subculture to mainstream, but it’s still misunderstood. At the same time, global conversations around identity, body autonomy, and cultural heritage are more visible than ever. This series meets that moment by treating tattooing not as trend, but as cultural language — one that exists in every society, across history, belief, and class.
“What makes this different from other tattoo shows?”
Most tattoo shows focus on aesthetics or competition. This series is anchored in meaning. The host’s medical background allows us to explore tattooing with credibility and respect — asking why humans permanently mark their skin, how culture shapes those decisions, and what the skin itself carries over time.
“Is the host essential, or could this work with someone else?”
The host is essential. His dual identity — dermatologist and heavily tattooed participant — creates trust on both sides. Artists open up to him because he’s lived in the culture, and audiences trust him because he understands the body medically. That tension is the engine of the series.
“How repeatable is this format?”
Extremely repeatable. Tattooing exists in nearly every culture. The two completed episodes already show tonal range — from ritual tradition to contemporary urban expression — and the structure scales cleanly across countries and seasons.
“What does success look like for this show?”
A global, bingeable series with strong completion rates and international appeal, capable of returning for multiple seasons.
A premium factual series with longevity — something audiences return to because it’s thoughtful, beautifully made, and culturally rich.
“What are you hoping for in a partner?”
A platform that values cultural storytelling, visual quality, and global perspective — and that sees this as a long-term series, not a one-off.
