Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB)
The Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Baltimore region. As an MPO, the BRTB is directly responsible for making sure that any money spent on existing and future transportation projects and programs is based on a continuing, cooperative and comprehensive (3-C) planning process.
The BRTB provides overall program management of a work plan and budget called the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP). In addition, the BRTB provides policy direction and oversight in the development of a federally mandated Long-Range Transportation Plan (Maximize2040 is the current plan), a short-range transportation plan known as the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and the Air Quality Conformity Determination.
The BRTB is an 13-Member board representing the cities of Annapolis and Baltimore, the counties of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard, and Queen Anne's as well as the Maryland Department of Transportation, the Maryland Department of the Environment, the Maryland Department of Planning, the Maryland Transit Administration, and Harford Transit.
