“When Sparks Fly” by Helena Hunting is a romance novel centered around Declan and Avery, two best friends who live together. When an unfortunate accident takes place it forces the two closer together and into a blooming romance. However, it’s not always smooth sailing. I enjoyed this book, it was recommended to me by many of my peers. The book is well paced, it never felt really boring or too fast. With a lot of books I read the start is always very slow, but with this book it moves into the story very fast, Introducing us to the main characters (Declan, and Avery) quickly but effectively. Showing the readers their personalities with their dialogue, which I liked a lot. This book is probably more suited for young adults as it has adult scenes and themes as well as vulgar language.  (Amerie. Grade 8)

The book “When sparks fly” by Helena Hunting is mainly about two people, Avery and Declan. This book was very enjoyable, interesting and I recommend it to people who enjoy the romance genre. Although some of the content might not be for people aged under 12. Everything was going well until she got in a car crash and needed someone to look after her, which is where her old best friend, Declan steps in. Their relationship had ups and downs which made the book enjoyable to read.  (Hannah. Grade 8)

The novel When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting is a mixture of romance and young adult fiction. It starts off with a girl named Avery who lives with her roommate and best friend, Declan. Everything is going well, until things turn around when she gets into a car crash and he feels responsible for her injuries and is determined to make it up to her. It was my first time reading a novel with this type of genre therefore, it was interesting. I enjoyed reading about the ups and downs of their relationship and how it developed as the story progressed. Although in the beginning I thought the book was a little slow-paced, as it continued it started to become more enjoyable and interesting. Ultimately, I would recommend this book if you like books based on romance, however, do take note that this book does contain some mature content. (Seoyeon. Grade 8)

“When Sparks Fly” by Helena Hunting was a book that I found really interesting and hard to put down. While running an event hotel with her sister, Avery Spark does not have much time to do anything else, especially be in a relationship. However, things turn around when she gets in a severe car accident and needs someone to take care of her. The longer Avery spends with her old best friend, Declan, the more she starts to get feelings for him. This story fits in the genre of romance, comedy, young adult, and realistic fiction. I would recommend it for ages 13 and up because younger ages might not understand some content. (Nina. Grade 8)

When the Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting is a book about Avery Spark. She runs the Spark House, a hotel run by her family in the past. She does not have time for any relationships. One day, when her friend Declan does not lend her his car, she drove in the rain and was in a car accident. After nearly losing his best friend, Declan promises her that he will take care of her until she gets better. Taking care of Avery every now and then turns out to be love and their love grows stronger. But things take a turn. Will they be able to keep their relationship going? Does it turn out to be a happy ending? I recommend this book to the ones who are 13 and above. The genre of this book is romance and young adult fiction, which might not be suitable for younger children. (Ahyun. Grade 8)

“When Sparks Fly” by Helena Hunting is a novel that is based on the genre of romance. As she runs an event hotel her family owns, Avery Spark doesn't have much time for anything else, especially relationships. Her life changes when she gets into a car accident and needs someone to care for her. My recommendation is for readers who enjoy romance, and who are at least 12 years old. In order for this book to be more engaging, more plot would have been helpful. As a whole, I would rate this book as 3.5/5, but I am unable to do so, so I give it a 3/5 instead.  (Ellery. Grade 8)
