This is How it Always is by Laurie Frankel is a realistic fiction book about a young, kindergarten boy named Claude that lives with his brothers and parents. Claude always likes to play with dolls, listen to stories about princesses, and wear dresses. Claude’s parents get confused about this, especially when he goes to kindergarten wearing skirts and dresses. One day, Claude told them he preferred to go by Poppy and he wanted to be a girl. I liked this book because it is very interesting but at the same time, it's a very important book. I recommend this book to 13+ because there are some sensitive/mature topics. (Mandalay. Grade 7)
