The book “The Tattooist of Aushwitz” is a non-fiction book about a man trying to survive in a concentration camp during the Holocaust. You follow the real story of Lale Sokolov on how he lived in throughout his years in the camp, what he did to live and the conditions there. The book can help you learn a little more about the concentration camps and things during that time period. I rated this book a 4/5 as it’s a good book that has an interesting story that I recommend for people who are interested in history or just want to read a good story. I gave the vocabulary a 3/5 as it’s a little more challenging than some other books, it also has some slightly strong language. (Ashton, Grade 8)

The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris was a good book that taught me more about World War II. It is based on the life of a Jewish man who was captured and taken to a concentration camp, where he soon became the tattooist in charge of marking the prisoners. One day, while tattooing a group of women, he falls in love with one of them. In this story, the two lovers meet secretly from time to time and promise that they will escape together. This book describes the struggles that prisoners had to endure in the concentration camps. I would recommend it to people who like the genres of historical fiction and romance. It is targeted at ages 13 and up because it might be a bit too hard for younger ages. (Nina, Grade 8)

The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris is a historical fiction novel that dips its toes into the romance genre. The book is mainly set in a concentration camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau during World War II. The protagonist is a Slovakian Jew who is forced into a concentration camp and is offered a privileged position as a tattooist because of his ability to speak several languages. Eventually, he meets a young woman and falls in love and this motivates him to survive the horrifying conditions. This book was very well written and the story is very important. It is written in a way that allows the reader to empathize with the protagonist's emotions. Overall, I strongly recommend this novel as reading about the World War II concentration camps in a fictional novel gave me a deeper understanding and made me more aware of the plight of Jewish people during this era. Keep in mind that the content may be disturbing for some readers. (Seoyeon, Grade 8)

“The Tattooist of Auschwitz” by Heather Morris is about Lale and his journey to escape the Auschwitz prison camp with the love of his life Gita. Lale was a jew deported to Auschwitz to save his family. Gita just arrived in Auschwitz. Lale caught a glimpse of Gita and fell madly in love. Gita returned the feeling. A deadly prison camp is not the best place for a blooming romance. Will they be able to be together? Gita and Lale faced many hardships trying to meet together and escape. Will they manage to get out in time? I really loved this book (I like reading about WWII in general). I think it's the genre of historical fiction and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in WWII or people who like historical fiction. (Amerie, Grade 8)
